Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs for his home state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He is now the face of Colorado on the world stage. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk group included Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once he heard an earlier version. The song was recorded within a couple of days of performing at Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
